What do coffee and the gospel have in common?
Amidst the noise of television, social media, and busy lives, #Gospel adapts the Gospel’s presentation for today’s world. Our project, centered around Paul’s Gospel in Romans, equips you with a comprehensive multi-media solution.
The #Gospel book, study guide, videos, and devotional bridge the gap between biblical teachings and modern life, unlocking the true power of the Gospel in your journey of faith and impacting the lives of others.
How do I deal with injustice in the world?
Poverty. Racism. Human trafficking. All too often, it seems like the injustices facing our world today drown out the cries for justice. When will oppression, exploitation, and corruption end? We yearn for an impartial judge to set things right.
Yet, at the same time, a just judge is our doom. After all, we are imperfect—and Perfection cannot overlook imperfection. It’s only through God’s great mercy that we have hope.
The greatest rescue the world has ever seen.
It was in a garden that, for the first time, humankind was presented with the choice of true love or selfishness. We chose wrong. Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world. With sin came death, and its effect would ravage the Earth. Sin had infected humankind and separated them from their Creator. But in this darkness, a glimmer of hope began to shine: God’s promise of a divine rescue plan. Through another man, Jesus Christ, hope pierced through the darkness with the promise of everlasting life and a restored relationship with our Creator.
We are all off course, and the gospel is the way back on.
Our Creator watched as greed, pride, and lust drove His people to unthinkable depravity. Longing to reconcile us to Himself, God established a guide for us to follow. There was just one problem: He required perfection. Surely, when the Israelites heard this, they must have been outraged. Perfection? We’ll never reach that! But, like a beacon of light, the Law exposed the damage we inflicted upon ourselves, revealing the desperation of our state and our undeniable need for a Savior. Yes, we were off course, but there was One coming to reunite us with Our Creator.
Where is God when I feel so alone?
Whether we’ve been neglected by a parent or betrayed by a close friend, the feelings of abandonment run deep, leaving bitter memories and painful scars in their wake. Scripture is full of these kind of “left-behind” stories, from Joseph’s brothers selling him into slavery to David’s life-or-death escape from Saul. Yet, even when others fail us, God never will. Even when we reject Him, even when we walk away, even when we fall short, He remains steadfast in His love for us. His great faithfulness covers our greatest failures. In Him, we are never abandoned.
He wasn’t the hero they were looking for, but he was the one they needed.
God’s people hung onto the hope of a coming Savior, one who would subdue the oppressive Roman regime and demand justice. But when the Messiah came, he wasn’t who they expected. He didn’t come as a conquering King but as a humble servant. He didn’t overthrow the Roman government, but encouraged paying taxes to Caesar. He wasn’t praised by religious leaders ,but was despised and rejected. He didn’t come to save us from our circumstances, but to save us from ourselves.
God’s unique ability for absolute forgiveness.
Some have said that love is blind; that when you really love someone, their faults, secrets, and imperfections just seem to evaporate. But is that true love? Scripture reminds us that God is love. He sees all of us, the imperfections, the secrets, the things we hate about ourselves, and still loves us so deeply. While it’s hard to wrap our minds around a God who has always been and who always will be, how refreshing it is to know that He is the great I AM, and ever-present in our circumstances. Nothing separates, nothing divides, nothing diminishes His love.
The essence of Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus. All of Christianity hangs on this event.
Death is the great equalizer. It comes to the rich and the poor alike. It has no regard for wealth, political power, or social standing. Even the greatest minds in history have succumbed to its inevitable dominion. But this is where the Gospel stands apart. The Gospel is the story of one Man who broke through the impenetrable, escaped the inescapable, and defeated the overwhelming power of the grave. That Man was God in human form: Jesus Christ. In His victory our hope is secured, the promise of everlasting life and a repaired relationship with our Creator.
What happens when we die?
Humanism says that we are masters of our own fate, that we can save ourselves. Religion declares that if we work hard enough, and our good deeds outweigh our bad, we are guaranteed eternal life. But at the heart, humanism and religion are rooted in the same thing — pride and stubborn self-reliance. The good news of the gospel is that the work is already done. Jesus did it. No matter how much we’re struggling or how much we’ve messed up, no matter how terrible our past or how unforgivable we feel, Jesus paid our debt, and He is the true master of our fate.
What does a life lived according to the gospel look like?
The promise of a fresh start: it’s the driving force behind billions of dollars in advertising each year. From gym memberships to nicotine patches, closet organizers to coffee, we are constantly bombarded with products guaranteeing a reset. Why? Because we strongly desire to do what is right but consistently fall short of doing it. Thankfully, the Spirit of God has given us the ultimate reset, setting us free from the gospel of self and nudging us closer to full dependence on the Giver of Life.
What does it take to be on the rescue team?
We don’t have to travel to a very far to see the hurt and hopelessness that pervades our world today. Brokenness lives in our own backyards. How will our friends, co-workers, and neighbors know the truth of the Gospel message? Jesus invites us to join his rescue team and empowers us to share our story with others. We don’t need to have all the answers. When Jesus healed a blind man in John 9, the man simply said, “I was blind but now I see!” Let’s be faithful to share our story. God’s got the rest.
We were never meant to go it alone.
Western culture greatly values individualism. Our self-important, self-reliant society strikes a serious contradiction to Christ’s will for the Church. We aren’t created to go it alone; we are wired for authentic community. Paul describes the Church as one body with many members. Your gifts and abilities are desperately needed! As we take time to employ our gifts, we not only build up one another, we bring God’s love to a broken world. View our blog about the flaw in having a lone wolf mentality.
How do we live well in a world that might not share our values and priorities?
From the garden to the cross, the Gospel is God’s divine rescue plan for us. It’s True Love overcoming all odds and it’s the promise of everlasting life. The Gospel is repentance from our sins, submission to our Creator’s design, and daily dependence on the only One who can change us from the inside out. It’s an invitation to follow in the footsteps of the Greatest Servant who ever lived, to be a light in a culture steeped in darkness. Are you all in? Make no mistake, this is no one-time push of all your chips to the center of the table of life. It is a daily struggle to repent, submit, and depend on the finished work of our Savior.
